"Pramma" -the shuttleboat

The road from Tana to Berlevåg was not completed before 1959. It used to be closed during the winter until around 1980, thus making the seaway absolutely essential for the municipality. Before the quay existed one had to use small shuttleboats for carrying goods and passengers to and from bigger ships. A restored shuttleboat is now on display in its own building called "Pramhuset". There one can also see how people were hoisted on board the coastal steamers in a big cage in bad weather!
